The mutual destruction is implied. Depending on your translation it can say “bruise”, “bite”, “strike”, etc. The ‘bruising” or “biting” symbolizes Christ’s eventual death and the resurrection symbolizes the crushing of the serpents head. The mutual destruction is necessary for the resurrection. Hope that helps and makes sense. God bless.
