"But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:3-7
Your salvation is not dependent on your own works; God saved us according to His mercy, not according to our deeds. Relationship with God comes because of His mercy, not our works. Your salvation came about by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit! The Bible tells that what was begun in the Spirit shouldn’t be tried to be made perfect in the flesh (Galatians 3:3). We need to keep trusting in God, clinging to Him, and abiding in Jesus by depending on Him; in this way, we are being transformed from glory to glory. We need to depend on the Holy Spirit for this journey, rather than trying to complete things in our own strength. He that began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6)!
