Good morning. I remember seeing a documentary about the Arctic peoples. Up there in the tundra there is limited food these days. The herdsmen have reindeer as livestock. They used to eat it as a regular part of their diet, but now they don’t have them as a staple. If I remember correctly, they will kill a reindeer to eat for a special occasion and maybe also to sell in exchange for some other food stuff. That’s if I can remember correctly. However I do remember them saying that because of the lack of food there’s not much for the reindeer to eat so the population of reindeer has dwindled. This is why they are careful to not consume their reindeer. So if I remember correctly they continue to keep reindeer as livestock for emergency situations or in hopes that one day things will turn around and the population of the reindeer will increase. So perhaps this similar way of thinking is what all herdsmen do in times of famine around the world even today.🤷🏾♀️
