  1. Garlic Used Directly On Wounds
From Roman antiquity through World War I, garlic poultices were used to prevent wound infections. The famous microbiologist Louis Pasteur performed some of the original work showing that garlic could kill bacteria. In 1916, the British government issued a general plea for the public to supply it with garlic in order to meet wartime needs. Garlic was called Russian penicillin during World War II because, after running out of antibiotics, the Russian government turned to this ancient treatment for its soldiers.

    Antimicrobial Use of GarlicΒ

There is no question that raw garlic can kill a wide variety of microorganisms by direct contact, including fungi, bacteria, viruses, and protozoa.79,80 A double-blind study reported in 1999 found that a cream made from the garlic constituent ajoene was just as effective for fungal skin infections as the standard drug terbinafine. 81 These findings may explain why garlic was traditionally applied directly to wounds in order to prevent infection (but keep in mind that it can burn the skin).Β

    Rat Study For Toxicity Levels
Rats have been fed gigantic doses of aged garlic (2,000 mg per kilogram body weight) for 6 months without any signs of negative effects. 87 Long-term treatment with standardized garlic powder at a dose equivalent to three times the usual dose, along with fish oil, produced no toxic effects in rats. 96

    • Paul Blake Thank you. That alone flushes the banskers and their crony drugists friends scare tactics right in the gutter. They want our money so bad, these monsters will invent all kind of bullshit to keep people scared and stay in their pockets. Garlic is a god made medecine and it is great for the body, period.

    • Also kills/irritates cancer cells, fungus, viruses, bacteria, parasites, lowers blood pressure (unbinding blood clots), better blood sugar, antioxidants (fights dementia), fights heavy metal toxicity, improves insulin sensitivity…

Is surprisingly nutritious with vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, C, selenium, manganese, folate, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, sodium and more

As for the side effects, I personally don’t mind if it smells like garlic around me, people have to deal with it, simple as that.
It can cause heartburn and you could feel a little nauseous so if it does irritate your stomach lining, I suppose you could just mix it with some other food, or eat something beforehand, something like a gentle banana. Garlic has a pH of 5.8, it normally can be eaten even with gastritis – in moderation.
Also, doctors say you shouldn’t eat too much garlic before undergoing an operation.

Overall I suppose it’s like this:
      Pros >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cons

  2. Nowadays, we’ve got all these quacks who attempt to ‘enlighten’ us with there Β pseudo-expertise. The overwhelming majority of the available independent scientific literature, not to mention hundreds, if not thousands of years of cultural common-sense, suggest garlic and onions (generally) make part of healthy diet. Β

  3. If garlic were bad then I would be sick or dead I eat raw garlic daily. I am 63 and healthy. Now you will say it is just me? Eat raw garlic it is very good for you.

  4. This Pharmaceutical Industries wants shove their experimental medicines into our throat and so discourage people from eating garlic. Garlic is from ancient times been keeping dangerous diseases at bay. I have been taking garlic everyday of of my life and I’m healthy as ever although I’m 64 years old now. If you want to stay healthy take garlic blended together with ginger, lemon and honey. Daily a table spoon will protect you from any diseases including cancer.

  5. It can be good and it can be bad for you? Β Actually there are studies shown where they put garlic in a petriΒ dish with cancer cells and normal human cells and the garlic attacked the cancer cells and left the normal human cells alone. Β I would like to know how it can be bad for you other than if it causes you an upset stomach?

  6. Too much of anything is bad for you. Garlic is good for you regardless of having bacterial infections or parasitic infections. Just eat the right amount and you’re good.

  7. March 10th 2016: Garlic OK for Colds. Research how it helps. If one is using fresh garlic sparingly, possibly 3 times during the week. that should be alright. God idea to read comments and other articles on garlic. Get the whole picture than make a test by keeping notes as t the effects of the garlic & the reason for taking garlic.

    • Royce Hanson No need to be so extreme I like garlic and there are very good for health but some people have allergies as well. In certain spiritual path it is prohibited (it’s right and scientific) in some spiritual path it is recommended (that’s correct as well and scientific.) Many good naturopath also sometime comes with some wrong findings while many other of their findings are good and garlic case is one of them. Garlic is very good for health.

  8. Only Pharmaceutical companies will almost always be behind post’s like this, it’s in their best interest , Money wise to keep you sick and dependent on them. If garlic was so bad for use, then why don’t we hear of any deaths related to Garlic ?

  9. All I know for sure is my friend Carl who is a 95 year old vegetarian who eats a couple cloves a day with honey and he is healthy as can be and walks 5 miles a day It hasn’t hurt him that’s for sure
