Isaiah 47 New Living Translation (NLT)
Prediction of Babylon’s Fall
47 “Come down, virgin daughter of Babylon, and sit in the dust.
For your days of sitting on a throne have ended.
O daughter of Babylonia,[a] never again will you be
the lovely princess, tender and delicate.
2 Take heavy millstones and grind flour.
Remove your veil, and strip off your robe.
Expose yourself to public view.[b]
3 You will be naked and burdened with shame.
I will take vengeance against you without pity.”

4 Our Redeemer, whose name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies,
is the Holy One of Israel.

5 “O beautiful Babylon, sit now in darkness and silence.
Never again will you be known as the queen of kingdoms.
6 For I was angry with my chosen people
and punished them by letting them fall into your hands.
But you, Babylon, showed them no mercy.
You oppressed even the elderly.
7 You said, ‘I will reign forever as queen of the world!’
You did not reflect on your actions
or think about their consequences.

8 “Listen to this, you pleasure-loving kingdom,
living at ease and feeling secure.
You say, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other.
I will never be a widow or lose my children.’
9 Well, both these things will come upon you in a moment:
widowhood and the loss of your children.
Yes, these calamities will come upon you,
despite all your witchcraft and magic.

10 “You felt secure in your wickedness.
‘No one sees me,’ you said.
But your ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ have led you astray,
and you said, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other.’
11 So disaster will overtake you,
and you won’t be able to charm it away.
Calamity will fall upon you,
and you won’t be able to buy your way out.
A catastrophe will strike you suddenly,
one for which you are not prepared.

12 “Now use your magical charms!
Use the spells you have worked at all these years!
Maybe they will do you some good.
Maybe they can make someone afraid of you.

  1. Adonai is a phenomenal reference…the word adon in Hebrew means lord, and Adonai is a plural version of Lord referring to the Trinity. Just like Elohim is a plural word for my God (s) yet we know Yah Is one, with a Face of light, a Word of might, and a Spirit so right(eous) and yes, Jehovah is a horrible translation of Yahuah from Ex 3:14 where we also see the Hebrew I am (yah) first being capitalized, since He Is the most proper pronoun, forever and ever HalleluYah

  2. Thank you for doing this faithfully I have been tuning in for the past few months and it has helped me not only get into Yahs word but closer to Him honestly the only time I would pick up my bible and read it was at church but now thanks to you I do it every morning and like you say it is to help us to continue reading in Yahs word and I does help I used to struggle to even read 10 min in it but now I find myself in His word for easily 30 or 45 min at least and you have helped so I just want to thank you for doing this I have really come to enjoy it keep spreading Yahs word Shalom be with you and yours

  3. Thank you Paul for explaining why Jehovah is not the name of God…. I agree with you….
I would not make this a doctrine of salvation…. but neither is the pronunciation of the tetrahedron (YHVH) “Yaweh”…. There is no “A” sound on the end…
The VH or WH on the end is exactly the same as it is when we use the letters Wh together as in Who What Where Why etc… You can hear the correct sounding of YHVH in Jewish names such as Benjamin Netanyahu….
It is Yahoo…. not Yaweh….But that is a personal choice and not up to me to dictate…. God is not linguistically challenged… and just like when an infant calls for his father, even though he may not pronounce it exactly correct, the father knows he is being addressed…..
Our Abba Father knows when we are calling out to Him even when we don’t form the Hebrew word correctly…. He goes by our heart and our attitude…. There is absolutely no reason to fear using the tetragrammaton as the early rabbis said we must do….
There is nothing magical nor holy about the Hebrew language as it is merely a dialect of the Canaanite language ….
