Many health gurus promote Raw Cacao (Chocolate) as a healthy superfood. This lady found out the reality about Chocolate the hard way. This is not an isolated case. A good amount of people have contacted me over the years with stories like this.

  1. 3/4 of a cup dam… that is a crazy amount and everyday.. it wasn’t the cocoa it was the amount you took and probably it wasn’t organic. silly lady

    • 3/4 CUP = 36 teaspoons EVERYDAY for a over A YEAR?? lmaooooooo cacao didnt almost kill you. you almost killed yourself silly lady. you should never have 3/4 cup any ONE thing everyday — EXCEPT WATER or if you are doing a short term diet cleanse—

      (X) 8-10 dates ** 1 date has 4.5 gram sugar = 36-45 gram sugar
      (X) 4 bananas ** 1 banana has 12 gram sugar = 48 gram sugar
      (X) 3/4 cup cacao ** 1gram of sugar
      = 89-94 grams of natural sugar for BREAKFAST

      ask people from these places where these actual plants grow about how they consume these items. I have raw cacao tea once for the week- max three times per week. I make a pot for a family of four.

      I use a about 1/4 cup cacao
      put in 2 cups water with about 2/3 tsp cinnamon, about 1/2 tsp nutmeg and 1 bay leaf. Put to boil for about 10-15minutes.
      Then turn off stove. I add at least 2 cups milk and then sweetener (maple syrup, agave, cane sugar *mild amount*)
      ** gauge the recipe to find what works for your family ** I’m just showing you in comparison to her recipe the amount that should be used/consumed.

  2. I use around 6 teaspoons with like 2 glass of milk everyday in the morning. Is it much? I’ve read it somewhere it’s alright in that amount.

The other concerning thing is that in consumer lab’s report on cacao/cocoa, the levels of cadmium and/or lead far exceeded the safe levels established by authorities. People should not overdo it with cacao, as well as with other things.  Too much of something ISN’T good I guess.  For instance, in cacao’s case,  cadmium is a toxic, heavy metal, a probable carcinogen, destructive of the kidneys and bone, and accumulates in the body because of its biological half-life in humans of 10 to 35 years.  Just to be safe, I’m sending back the bag of raw cacao I ordered as I don’t think it’s necessary given the possible theobromine risks along with the cadmium/lead contamination issues.

  4. everything you eat or drink in large amounts is bad for you…. now and then a cup of hot raw chocolate isn’t bad for you as long as you’re not sensitive for any of the components, just as any other food.
    the problem with people is that if they hear or know something is healthy, they’re gonna eat and drink lots of it, and that’s where it goes wrong… just keep in mind that a variet diet is the best for you! ^^

  5. That sounds like Hypoglycemia. or low blood sugar. It can cause the same symptoms. She is very thin and looks fatigued & pale. too much of not enough of the wrong thing =

  6. I ate a bunch of cacao last night and I feel like I got hit in the head with a fucking shovel. I would compare this to alcohol poisoning. Never fucking eating any type of chocolate again.

    Currently I have taken 1 teaspoon with 1 eight teaspoon of Cayenne, And a couple of other spices and honey in warmed water about 2-3 times a day. This has improved my oxygen to my bladder and other systems. I have noted incredible improvements
    1 teaspoon 3 times a day

  8. YOU KNOW, THIS IS A CLEAR RED ALERT WHY PEOPLE NEED GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT FOR WISDOM. EVEN 8-10 DATES PER SMOOTHIE, AS SHE STATED, WOULD MAKE ME VOMIT!! TOO EXCESSIVE. LESS IS MORE. LADY, I SEE BUDDHA STATUE IN YOUR BACKGROUND. BUT YOU NEED JESUS. THAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE. I LIVED WITHIN A COUPLE’S HOUSE FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. THEY BELIEVED IN EVERYTHING ORGANIC, AND RAW TIL FOUR. BUT THEIR HOUSE WAS ABSOLUTELY FILTHY. DO YOU THINK THE ORGANIC MADE UP FOR THAT?! HELLO. ASK JESUS TO SHIW YOU THE WAY, MS LADY. AND HE WILL. SO YOU DON’T GO WANDERING OFF IN ANOTHER WRONG DIRECTION, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!!!

  9. 3/4 a cup per day is a lot as most point out, but it was also shared between two people and she states her husband never had similar symptoms. His greater regular consumption of water may be the difference.

    At least we now have one testimonial experience about this level of consumption.

  10. Hmm 3/4 of a cup equals about 6fl ounces. The smoothie was 64ounces ÷ 6ounces = 10.66666 Which roughly 1/10 of the smoothie was cocao and the rest of the 9/10 is water and fruit. That amount doesn’t seem too crazy honestly. What’s crazy is the negative effects of that cocao.

    • Also, the nutrition facts​ on her bag of cacao says one serving is 2.5tbsp. 3/4 cup cacao = 12tbsp. So if she shared and drank half the smoothie (12tbsp ÷ 2 = 6tbsp consumed herself) she had just over 2 servings only.
