This video explores the main ideas and flow of thought of the book of Job. The book of Job explores the difficult question of God's relationship to human suffering. And while it doesn't offer tidy answers, we are invited into new levels of trust in God's wisdom and character.

    • +Rob Marble At this point it really doesn’t matter whether Job is black or not. He totally could be, but it is not specifically described because his race is not the point of the account.

Like +Akeem Olass is saying, what we need to take from this is the message. To nick pick certain details and get up in arms about them creates an atmosphere of contention. And as Christians, or Jews, or whatever you happen to be, the doctrine of peace is the same. Not whether one is black.

    • This is Job 1:11 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Can you show me where you think it says he’s African American? Thank you.

  1. My sister and I discussed whether or not God was just in sending certain sinners to hell. I tried to argue on behalf of God but failed. We sat in silence and contemplated him being unjust. Not even a second after I began to wonder, my eyes went right to my bible sitting on my table. i knew there would be a message. I turned to a random page and was led to scripture in the book of Job. Needless to say, I got my answer and was humbled.

    • I don’t know many things, but some scholars say that God only gives choice between eternal life and death, not heaven and eternal hell. That the bible never says about a Hell where people will be burned and tortured forever, eternally.

    • Psychic Friction
      Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death
      Matthew 25:46
Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life
      Mark 9:43
If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out
      Matthew 13:24
They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

      Those scholars were incorrect

    • Derek Fisher The choice is between eternal life and eternal death. How are they gonna die? By burning lake of fire. Those don’t say choose between eternal pleasure and eternal torture.

  2. My name is Jeremy David Ray. I was born dead with complications and was not breathing and clinically dead. This saddened, my mother, but out of love for me that mother’s love deeply prayed to either let me live or take me if that His will? His will be done. This is accounted by what she tells me when my birthday comes around. God decided and there breathed life into me. It was 7 minutes and this year I’m turning 30 years old. That would have been 30 years ago. Today I feel closer to God more than ever because I believe he chose me for a reason and now more than ever I find I owe it to him for my life. I have not always been the best Christian but I know Jesus is God one on the same. I am living proof of the love of God and miracles he does every day.

  3. Also the book of Job is proof that there were Dinosaurs in The Old Testament. The dinosaurs died 65 million years ago right? Well then why would there be long dead animals living alongside Adam, Moses and Job? Because The Bible IS the true account of the true History of the world. I read that the animals spoken of in Job refer to a Sauropod or Brachiosaurus as Behemoth and the the great sea reptile, Plesiosaur as Leviathan.

  4. not sure why they call him the satan. We all know who satan is mate. And also you would think the author is Job. Not sure why they didnt reference satan well

  5. SO — When I first read Job, Elihu really impressed me with his response. Then I was taught (from a friend with one commentary) that Elihu was the person immediately reference as having “dark counsel.” Is Elihu an actual “friend” of Job? Or is that one of the great questions of the book??

  6. Another lesson I got from reading through this book is that we should get rid of our sense of entitlement “I am a good person hence, I deserve good things and nothing bad should happen to me”. It’s not our place to determine that but God’s.

  7. Trouble happened to Job to test him, that’s the reason
Isn’t it? That’s what happened at the beginning in the book of Job, Satan suggested to test him.
