Evidently

To substitute what satisfies in the moment, regardless of established truth, has been the way of mankind from the beginning. Trading facts for feelings is littered throughout man’s history. It evidently boils down to an inability to believe Yahweh and His Sovereignty, thus uncovering a primitive distrust in Him, His methodologies, and His commandments.

There is a heavy price to pay physically and spiritually for this lack of faith. Disbelief first ages a man spiritually, and we don’t mean that it matures him. It makes him old, as in degenerated. And how does this affect his spiritual life? It traps him in the same bad doctrines that caused the dis-ease in the first place. We think in modern vernacular you would say it like this: “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” And as you have learned so often in these devotions, the physical shadow always reflects the spiritual reality.

There is a pattern that accompanies the choices of distrust and disbelief of the great I Am; it was established in the Garden and it leads to death and labor! “If you eat from it, you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:17); “The ground is cursed because of you. Through hard work you will eat food that comes from it every day of your life.” (Genesis 3:17) You can resist this truth, but kicking against the goads is futile (Acts 26:14).

The sad thing is that history will not heal this issue for mankind. It has to be a personal choice, not a historical one. All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the soul is not satisfied. (Ecclesiastes 6:7) If history could have done it, Cain’s example of his own effort yielding bad fruit would have taught us this lesson (Genesis 4:3-7). Instead of heeding the warning; “sin is lying outside your door ready to attack. It wants to control you, but you must master it,” (v. 7) he watered the ground with his brother’s blood. He was therefore cursed “from the ground” (v. 11) which would forever yield bad fruit (Genesis 4:10-12).

If history could heal us, the Exodus would have taught us a lesson. Forty-two campsites named in Numbers 33 (plus 17 others mentioned elsewhere in the Torah), all stopping grounds before crossing the Jordan. There was lots of setting up and breaking down over 40 years, all those extra years and extra stops because of distrust and therefore, disobedience. Who did the Mighty One swear would never enter His place of rest? He was talking about those who didn’t obey Him. So, we see that they couldn’t enter His place of rest because they didn’t believe. (Hebrews 3:18-19)

Evidently, knowing the history does not matter. The pattern continues; and you are participating in it. You might be experiencing it right now, the temptation to choose feelings over facts; satisfaction in the moment over truth and reality; disobedience that leads to death and labor over trusting His Sovereignty. The remedy is also in you. It is a choice you can make today, a choice to believe everything about Him. Much of the faith to do so is a gift that has already been deposited in you. The final piece is your choice. And the opportunity arises when your feelings contradict your faith. Choose this day whom you will serve; facts or feelings? As for us, we will proclaim as mandated; "I will serve Yahweh!" (Joshua 24:15)

“Turn to Me when I warn you. I will generously pour out My Spirit for you. I will make My words known to you.” (Proverbs 1:23)

Who May?

(#284 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

O Yahweh, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may live on Your holy mountain? The one who walks with integrity, does what is righteous, and speaks the truth within his heart [mind]. The one who does not slander with his tongue, do evil to a friend, or bring disgrace on his neighbor. The one who despises those rejected by Yahweh but honors those who fear Yahweh. The one who makes a promise and does not break it, even though he is hurt by it. The one who does not collect interest on a loan or take a bribe against an innocent person. Whoever does these things will never be shaken. ~Psalm 15

In order to equip you to cross over the Jordan (thoughts that cause decrease and inhibit spiritual increase) into your promised land (firm foundation of Holy mindedness), it would behoove you to ask this question. “Did the Messiah ever teach anything but the doctrine of His Father?” Yahshua responded to them, “What I teach [doctrine] doesn’t come from Me but from the one who sent Me. Those who want to follow the will of My Father will know if what I teach is from Him or if I teach My own thoughts. Those who speak their own thoughts are looking for their own glory. But the man who wants to bring glory to the One who sent him is a true teacher and doesn’t have dishonest motives [unrighteousness in him].” (John 7:16-18)

Do you believe His doctrine or your own thoughts? Is your understanding veiled? Shaul spoke of those of old whose minds were darkened. Their minds became closed. In fact, to this day the same veil is still there when they read the Old Covenant. It isn’t removed, because only the Messiah can remove it. (2 Corinthians 3:14)

Who may abide in the tabernacle (presence) of Yahweh? Who may ascend to His holy mountain (elevated thought)? Who will not be shaken (emotionally disrupted) in times of trouble?

One who:

· Walks with integrity;

· Does what is righteous;

· Speaks the truth within his heart;

· Does not slander;

· Does not do evil;

· Does not bring disgrace on his neighbor;

· Despises those rejected by Yahweh;

· Honors those who fear Yahweh;

· Keeps a promise even though he is hurt by it;

· Does not collect interest on a loan;

· And does not take a bribe.

“The man who wants to bring glory to the One who sent him is a true teacher.” Yahshua said to them, “You don’t believe because you’re not My sheep. My sheep respond to My voice, and I know who they are. They follow Me.” (John 10:26-27) Do you believe? Are you His sheep?

The Messiah has offered to remove the veil from His sheep. Does it still blind you? Hear His voice; follow Him!

Good News

(#282 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)

When you think of ministry from a Hebraic perspective, think of power, resources and direction. From Noah to Abraham; from Jacob (Israyl) to Moses; from David to Yahshua; to all the early disciples; and then to us, the objective of ministry for Yahweh’s children has never changed. Ultimately, it has a singular purpose with a focused message. For all those who are ruled by and will rule for Yahweh, for all “overcomers” (Israyl), ministry is to preach “The Good News.” For indeed the Good News was preached to us as well as to them [those in the wilderness] … (Hebrews 4:2)

Yahshua and the prophet of old would agree. He [Yahshua] came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isayah [Isaiah]. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of Yahweh is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Good News to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of Yahweh. Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:16-21 from Isayah 61:1-2)

In Yahshua’s day there was no Renewed Covenant (commonly known as "New Testament") to read from. He taught in the Synagogues from the scrolls of the Torah and Prophets, as was the custom. Yaaqob (James), the early leader of the assembly, as directed by the Holy Spirit at the Jerusalem Council, clearly perpetuated this tradition in his ruling. “For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.” (Acts 15:21) Shaul also abided in this! At Iconium Shaul and Barnabas went as usual into the synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed. (Acts 14:1) There were Greeks in the Synagogues? Why? Think about it!

And with this fresh understanding you can now appreciate that all of the Good News came from the Law (Torah) and the prophets of the Old Covenant (commonly known as the "Old Testament"). Yes, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of the Almighty and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of Yahweh may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17) And by “all Scripture,” Shaul was not referring to the Renewed Covenant (New Testament), as it was not yet written. Nevertheless, "The people of Berea were [considered] more fair-minded than the people of Thessalonica. [Because] They were very willing to receive the Almighty’s message, and every day they carefully examined the Scriptures [the Old Covenant] to see if what Shaul said was true." (Acts 17:11) This is deep; the Bereans used the Old Covenant to confirm if what Shaul was saying about Yahshua was true!

You shouldn't be surprised; Yahshua Himself even proclaimed that, “If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me.” (John 5:46) So now you must ask yourself, “As a child of the Most High, what is the ministry I am committed to?” In other words, “What is the Good News you are anointed to preach?” To help you discover the richness of the answer, we’ll offer you this as a seed to plant in the, hopefully, fertile soil of your heart. What did you actually confess when you called on the name of the “Lord” in Romans 10:9-13? Hint: study Romans 10:1-8 in detail and reference from where the Good News Shaul was preaching came. "That is the word of faith which we preach." (Romans 10:8) He was preaching Moses' words from Deuteronomy 30:11-14 and Leviticus 18:4-5! (Read it!) True ministry has Yahweh’s fingerprint from His Word all over it. If you believe Moses, you can believe Shaul and Yahshua.

Is Yahweh's fingerprint evident in your ministry? It was in Shaul’s; “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Master Yahshua, to testify to the Good News of the Mighty One’s grace.” (Acts 20:24) This is the Good News derived from the Torah and the prophets. Yahshua answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His w

Yahweh had declared former things from the beginning that He made come to pass, and He had hidden things that He later revealed. All this so you can distinguish His signature from the idols ("self" reliant thoughts) that tempt you. He also knew that you would deal treacherously with His truth, and still He restrained Himself from cutting you off.

Instead, He purifies you in the fire. "See I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For My own sake, for My own sake I do this. How can I let myself be defamed [profaned]? I will not yield My glory to another." (Isaiah: 48:10-11)

What it sounds like when you finally understand; when you are finally free!

"Child."

"Yes Father."

"Do you now understand?"

"I believe I do. Can You test me to see?"

"Why do I allow you to suffer?"

"It's the only way Father."

"The only way to do what My child?"

"The only way to remove all idols and any thoughts that oppose You."

"What do you think will happen once the suffering ends child?"

"I will only be able to agree with You Father."

"So, you think your suffering comes from your resistance to do things My way?"

"Yes Father."

"Would you suffer all over again, in order to see the things you see now?"

"A thousand times over Father."

"My dear child, now it’s no longer just a hope and a belief."

"What do you mean Father?"

"Now you are free because you understand. Now you are free because you know Me. You have suffered well."

"Thank you Father."

"Isn't it beautiful?"

"Perfect Father. Simply perfect."

Public Figures

(#268 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

Yahshua’s brothers said to Him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that Your disciples there may see the works You do. No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.” (John 7:3-4) Yahshua chose otherwise.

There is a great line in the movie Gladiator (2000) when General Maximus says to the wicked Roman Emperor, "The time for honoring yourself will soon be at an end." It reminds us of Yahshua’s instructions to “sit down in the lowest place” at the wedding feast in Luke 14. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 14:11)

Heed His instructions, all who are called to be shepherds and leaders. You are not supposed “take the place of honor” or draw attention to yourself as the central figure. Know when to disappear from the crowds. Even Shaul testified, “Was I crucified for you?” And he was thankful that he had baptized only a few, so that he would not develop followers or draw disciples to himself. (Read 1. Corinthians 1:11-17)

Yahshua actually taught many “controversial” things that made people angry and caused them to leave Him. (Read John 6:43-66) From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more (v. 66). The reason they left was because of His “hard teachings” (v. 60). The teachings were intended to sift (consciously disrupt) His chosen ones like a winnowing fork sifts wheat on the threshing floor (Matthew 3:12). The very thing that made them flee was that which would have saved their souls.

Why do you expect it to be different for you? Why have you styled your messages to actually tickle ears, rather than pierce the conscience? Are you afraid that the crowds will “walk with you no more?” Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season! Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (2 Timothy 4:2-4) Do not be enticed to water down the “hard teachings” so you can appeal to the crowd.

Quite the contrary, Yahshua oftentimes sought to remove Himself from the crowds as commanded by His Father. Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, “I must preach the Kingdom of the Mighty One to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” (Luke 4:42-44)

Embrace the change and then get ready to guide others to do the same. Never concern yourself for the accolades and praises from men. Look to Yahweh for everything and nothing else will matter. "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)

The broad road is for the crowd. The narrow path is the one Yahshua walked. If even He guarded His life as a public figure, what about you? Heed the warning!

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:26-27)

The Forgiver

(#262 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

“Against You [Yahweh], You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight— that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge.” (Psalms‬ 51:4‬)

The depth of understanding this is so profound that it could only be received, believed, and shed abroad, by an adulterer, murderer, liar, schemer, and thief, in other words, someone who suffered for his sin (truly repented), and then experienced Yahweh’s forgiveness. It takes spiritual maturity to understand the words, “Against Yahweh only,” spiritual maturity gained in the valley of humiliation, the place where the ego goes to die. (See Hosea 2:14-15 in devotion # 254.)

And what do we learn from David’s words? When one sinful man fails another, it is a sin against Yahweh. David did not seek forgiveness from those he harmed; he went to the only One who could be sinned against, the Holy One. The entirety of Psalm 51 speaks of David’s genuine repentance for the murder of Uriah and the theft of Bath-Sheba’s purity (2 Samuel 11). Yet, although he harmed another, it was to Yahweh alone he was indebted.

Acknowledging that you are responsible for the murder of His Son (against You only have I sinned) will make you ever cognizant of the price He paid (the place where the ego goes to die), and therefore to whom the debt is owed (repentance).

And when you come to terms with this reality another beautiful pattern emerges. In the midst of this profound revelation a twin revelation is born; “If I only sin against Yahweh, and my sin is ever present except for His Spirit in me, then who in me is actually forgiving others?” And to this question you will once again find that the answer is Yahweh alone. It is against Yahweh alone you sin and it is Yahweh alone who forgives! And because the love of the Almighty has been poured out in our hearts [mind] by the Holy Spirit who was given to us (Romans 5:5), you now can forgive others with His Spirit in you.

As you apply this supernatural revelation to all circumstances, you become a vessel through which others can realize the same. The next time someone asks you for your forgiveness, perhaps you might say, "If Yahweh forgives you, that's all that matters."

Prayer

(#260 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

Yahweh says, “Consider Me. I come to you tenderly My loved one, with soft and loving arms. I Am jealous for you, jealous for an uninhibited relationship. My desire is for complete oneness with you. As My child, you have permission to interact with Me, to enter My throne room at any time. That supernatural meeting place is called prayer. Many of you seem to view prayer in a very humanistic, religious way. Prayer looks like closed eyes and folded hands. And for some it is a recitation of certain words. I Am okay with that. But, I'm also okay without it.”

Sometimes that meeting place is spiritually violent. Remember: The Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. (Matthew 11:12) Of course, this is a “good violence.” Picture it as a supernatural collision with the Almighty. This idea of a violent collision is encapsulated in the idea of intercession. In both the natural and the spiritual, intercession suggests the idea of impingement by violence or force, an intense encounter, to fall upon, or run over. In Job 36:32 it says, “He fills His hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark.” Prayer or intersession “strikes its mark!” The bottom line is that it is a meeting with an outcome. Come just as you are, but if you enter, you cannot leave the same as you came. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. (Deuteronomy 6:8) The outcome is binding; it leaves a mark! To collide with the Almighty is the image we want you to digest. Envision being completely absorbed in Him. If you can, the lesson is complete. If not, we can only imagine what Yahweh’s tender appeal to you might be.

“So often I hear you say, ‘All I can do is pray.’ I know My Spirit is already stirring in you, so let’s reframe what you are really saying. ‘All I can do is collide with my Creator.’ You see it now, don't you? There is nothing more powerful than the violent collision called prayer. Visualize running full force into My arms, head first. Then feel yourself enveloped by My loving arms. Embrace this reality My precious one. It’s time to grow up and get mature. I know you often think of prayer as the last straw, when all other remedies have been exhausted. Then you suppose prayer might be warranted. Think again loved one. It is a head on collision with Me, right into My arms. Those who are mature, their words differ from, ‘All I can do is pray.’ Instead, they say, ‘All I need to do is pray.’ No religion, no correct way; they just start talking to Me. It’s beautiful; it’s tender; it’s intimate, it’s a violent supernatural collision. Will you come and collide with Me?”

The Trade

(#258 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

It’s the offer of a lifetime for those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Yahweh has said in various ways, “Obey Me and I will give you My peace.” His intent, of course, is to realign your thinking process with one of radical, unconditional, reflex obedience. As an incentive, He is offering you a supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding, which will then guard your heart (mind) (Philippians 4:7). This is an extraordinary offer that you should not pass up. Let’s explore it more deeply.

Yahshua answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me. These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:23-27)

“My peace I give you, not the peace the world gives,” Yahshua said. Worldly peace is conditional; it is an absence of disturbance or hostilities, or a personality free from internal and external strife. This is good, but it is dependent on circumstances; it is not supernatural. The scriptural concept of peace (shalom) is dynamic and transcends circumstances; it is not conditional. “My peace I give you, not the peace the world gives.”

Obey Yahweh and you will have peace (shalom) no matter what!

· You will have what is needed to be whole, complete and to live well;

· You will have wholeness of life and health of your body;

· You will have harmony in relationships;

· You will have prosperity, success, and fulfillment;

· You will have safety and victory over your enemies.

As per Holy decree, the offer is no less than remarkable when properly perceived. Loss of your spouse, yet obedient; peace! Imprisoned and bound, yet obedient; peace! Loss of a child, yet obedient; peace! You will have peace implanted into your conscience that causes you to say, “I could not even be burdened if I tried to be. His peace has enveloped my mind!” This is the peace that surpasses all understanding. Is this not the master key to life? Is it not the very thing that every soul longs for? “No matter what, I obey, and therefore, no matter what, I have His peace.”

As we write, we cry out for all of you. Our fervent prayer is that you accept “the offer,” the supernatural trade—obedience for peace. May His Spirit forever pierce your conscious behaviors. And may you acknowledge within that if you don’t have His peace right now, somehow, you are in disobedience. It is this very process of thinking that will begin to, and continually set you free from all that hinders and burdens you. Peace loved one. We pray that the peace of Yahweh overwhelms you. “Let not your heart [mind] be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Everyone who commits [practices] sin is guilty of lawlessness [violating Yahweh’s law by transgression or neglect; being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will]; for sin is lawlessness. (1 John 3:4) Sin, quite literally, is transgression of the law. It always starts in the mind and most often manifests in physical action. It is NOT, as most people think, a built-in biological certainty. Simply put, sin is a voluntary decision. The law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. (Romans 7:12) You can either choose to obey it or not to obey it! But don’t be mistaken; it is your choice.

Here’s a question you have not likely been asked before. Do you sin because Adam (Adam #1) sinned, or because you would have made the same choice, and still do? The world loves to purport that biology is the inevitable cause of transgression (sin), if in fact they are of the secular camp that even admits transgression is possible. And certainly by mere self-identification as “non-believers,” the world would never categorize their failures as transgressions against Yahweh. As believers, we know otherwise; it is against Yahweh alone that we sin (Psalm 51:4).

Even more inviting to the world are terms like: innocent victim; unfortunate disease; hereditary disposition; or alternative lifestyle, as more palatable substitutes for the atrocious idea that they might be transgressing the law of some higher being, or even of nature itself. Sins such as addictive behaviors, immoral standards, gluttony, promiscuous behavior and clothing, aberrant sexual activity, or gender "re-identification," are ignored or excused; and in recent years, simply accepted as the “new normal.” Why? "Because people are just born that way." And the distinction between right and wrong is just culturally relative, or even more precariously, personally relative. As scripture says, futile thinking is where the downfall begins. (Romans 1:21)

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20) Now consider that this was not written to the world; it was to Yahweh’s chosen people. Have you also adopted the world’s excuses? Do you actually believe Yahweh created man to be evil and sinful on purpose? Does it comfort you in some way to believe the lie? “It is hereditary; I’m a victim; it’s not my fault." Are these your acceptable excuses? Will you continue to reject the truth that committing transgression is a choice? Is your current belief system based on Romans 7:14-23? (Read it!) “Woe is me; I’m a victim of my flesh; I keep doing what I do not want to do and don’t do what I am supposed to do.” Or is your reality Romans 7:24-25? (Read it!) “Who will deliver me from this body of death? Praise Yahweh, Yahshua the Messiah DID!” For the law of the Spirit of life in the Messiah Yahshua has made me free from the law of sin and death. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of the Almighty dwells in you. (Romans 8:2, 9)

Chanok (pronounced khan-oke'), you know him better as Enoch. By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because the Almighty had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased the Almighty. (Hebrews 11:5) His very name means "dedicated, experienced, and trained." He lived three hundred and sixty five years of a dedicated life, pleasing to Yahweh. He was the seventh (perfection) generation from Adam (Jude 1:14). He walked the narrow road and was taken from the earth without experiencing physical death. He became an example to all who would believe. Was his obedience hereditary as some believe about sinfulness? Or was it a choice?

It is in this time together that we remove scales and introduce the true reality; Enoch made the only choice that mattered. It was the choice to obey alone, and not attempt to add or take away from what Yahweh ordained to bring life and death. Not one jot or tittle could be changed, and he submitted to it (resisted the temptation of Adam #1).

His dedication to the narrow path was a choice; his carnal mind gave him every option to fail, but he chose otherwise. He chose to be pleasing to Yahweh. Yes, this was Enoch and he made no excuses.

Under My Rod

(#256 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

“As I live,” says Yahweh Almighty, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you. I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out. And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face. Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says Yahweh Almighty. “I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israyl. Then you will know that I Am Yahweh.” (Ezekiel 20:33-38)

Think of passing through a metal detector on your way into a courtroom. The detector, perfectly placed, will not allow entrance until anything potentially dangerous has been removed. And so it is with the rod that I cause to fall upon you. “I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.” (v37) The covenant is love. The removal of anything that damages love must take place before you can stand in My presence. This is why the rod is a must. He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him promptly. (Proverbs 13:24)

Even My Son cried out at His crucifixion, "Why have You forsaken Me?" (Matthew 27:46) This is the fulfillment of the pure mind, as all the sins of mankind, past and future, were born by Him in that instant. Why was that necessary? That He might present her [the bride] to Himself a glorious congregation, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she [the bride] should be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians 5:27) There can be nothing but purity in My presence. There can be no trace of flesh (the Adam #1 previously spoken of); there can be no dross; there can be no defect. In My house, there is no spot and no speckle, only a glorious bride, holy and without blemish! My Son declares it so, “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48)

Yes child, take comfort that My eyes are ever upon you as My rod strikes. "Where are you still holding onto flesh thoughts? What are you still trying to hide from Me?" These are the questions that the rod answers. I desire you learn quickly, though My long-suffering endures.

Changing faulty patterns of the mind into pure patterns of the mind; it is for this that the rod was designed! For some, purity arrives more easily. How so? They relish the discipline; "Abba, Your rod is Your love; do not remove it until I have found You." These will rise. These are My sons and daughters.

Old Ties

(#255 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

There is a special time for everything. There is a time for everything that happens under Heaven. There is a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pick what is planted. There is a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up. There is a time to cry, and a time to laugh; a time to have sorrow, and a time to dance. There is a time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to kiss, and a time to turn from kissing. There is a time to try to find, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. There is a time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; a time to be quiet, and a time to speak. There is a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

And there is a time to sever bad relationships. The reasons can be complex, but in the end the pattern is simple. As charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindle strife. (Proverbs 26:21) True friends are rare; casual acquaintances are many. The severing will be most necessary with the latter. What might warrant a separation? Some people have an antagonistic spirit and the energy they take from you harms your soul.

You might think it's a sign of unconditional love and humility to work out a strained relationship. And in one sense it is. However, wisdom will tell you when you have done enough. "The contention became so sharp that they parted from one another." (Acts 15:39) Like Shaul and Barnabas, some relationships are best ended for a season, and certain associations are best ended permanently. It's okay to have a brother or sister with whom you might rather part ways. Not all relationships advance the Kingdom. In the future, a change in circumstances might allow room for reconciliation, but there is no guarantee that it must or will happen. Some people change; some won't.

Truthfully, your first obligation is that which fills your soul, and that is your need for the companionship of a loving Creator. This relationship nurtures and supports self-love and allows you access to supernatural Power. Self-love is the love of the new man within (Adam #2; Messiah in you), through denial of the old man (Adam #1, the "self" will that must be crucified). The outcome: you will become all that Yahweh created you to be! His supernatural power has given to us all things that pertain to life and holy reverence, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the holy nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:3-4)

A wise person guards his life (entire conscious thought plain)! If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men (Romans 12:18), and if not, move on. A wise man fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self [Adam #1] confident. (Proverbs 14:16) Fake or unfruitful relationships, those that pretend to work but are really destructive, are not pleasing to the Father. True faith allows for old ties to break. True faith knows man is limited in what he can do for his fellow man. And it is not so arrogant that it is unwilling to leave the rest to Yahweh. There is a time to keep and a time to cast away. There is a time for everything that happens under Heaven.

Door of Hope

(#254 from Suffer Well Devotional Series©)
www.sufferwell.org

Therefore, behold, I Am going to allure her [My Son's bride], will bring her into the wilderness and give her understanding [speak comfort to her]: And I will assign to her these, her vineyards, and the Valley of Achor [troubled mind] as a door of hope. She will sing there, as in the days of her youth, as in the days when she came up from the land of Egypt [carnal materiality]. (Hosea 2:14-15)

This is the never changing and ever difficult pattern for the fallen mind to grasp. But it is that which leads to the perfected mind. The valley is the place where hope is created and destinies revealed. And you must make a conscious decision to either conform to this most Holy of patterns or continue to rebel. The rebellion always manifests with predictable signs: anger, resentment, sadness, doubt, fear, bitterness, rage, jealousy, judgment, pride, etc. Each of these are indicators of your denial of this pattern; “The door of hope is in the valley (wilderness).”

Yahweh has seen fit to show His supernatural Hand in your life, a magnanimous gift unto itself. And He has chosen the wilderness as His place for this revelation. But, because the valley is the designated place of revelation, denial of the pattern leads to denial of revelation.

The voice of one crying, “In the wilderness prepare the way for Yahweh; make straight in the desert a highway for our Mighty One." (Isaiah 40:3) Interestingly, each time John quotes this: Matthew 3:3; Mark 1:3; Luke 3:4; and John 1:23, the translators write, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare a way…,” whereas Isaiah actually says “The voice of one crying, in the wilderness prepare a way….” Do you see the subtle difference? It's just a misplaced comma, yet it changes everything! It is not the “voice” that is in the wilderness; it is the “way” that is in the wilderness!

Remember this loved one! It makes all the difference and it will not change! And when you seek to grasp it, an amazing thing takes place as a result of your obedience. Yahweh will gift you with a supernatural peace which empowers you to actually rejoice in the wilderness; it is the ability to suffer well! Think about it. The wilderness is not a punishment as it is often presented. It is actually a place of freedom; the Israylites were freed from bondage. It is place of training in reverence; Yahweh gave His people the instruction manual for life. And it is a place of supernatural provision; where else can you get water from rocks, manna from heaven, and shoes that don’t wear out, etc.?

However, once you are given permission to go free from "Egypt" (the carnal ego), it is all too predictable that you will desire to return, as the lusts of the flesh have been rooted deeply in your subconscious. We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!” (Numbers 11:5-6) This is the very thing that causes you to dread the valley experience and that which creates desires to “go back into bondage.” As a dog returns to his own vomit, so a fool repeats his folly. (Proverbs 26:11)

These carnal desires can be overcome by allowing the Spirit in you (the Son’s presence) to dominate your personal choices rather than seeking to satisfy your sensual desires. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of the Mighty One dwells in you. (Romans 8:5, 9)

Understanding this most precious pattern prepares you to receive the mind of the Messiah promised to you; be perfect! "So, you mean that when I finally grasp that suffering is the only road to perfection, the narrow road to perfection, then Yahweh will actually give me joy in the midst of the suffering, so that it no longer feels like suffering to my mind?" The words of our Messiah will best explain. As they tore His flesh and drove nails through His limbs; as He hung suffocating and in agony on a tree; and as He bore all the past and future sins of humanity in an instant; He said, “Father, forgive them!" He had a mind at peace and filled with love in the midst of the most amazing display of suffering the world had or will ever witness. Suffer well loved one. Suffer well.
