In this week’s study from Tehillim / Psalms 124:1-8, the raging waters of their fury would have overwhelmed our very life of David and his people. The Lord however is in the midst of His people, and they are able to say, 124:6 Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us to be torn by their teeth. 124:7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper; The snare is broken and we have escaped. 124:8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. (NASB) Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 2: 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 2:26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. (NASB) The idea is the Lord grants us mercy for the purpose of leading us back into repentance.
