After 10 years serving in the Assemblies of God Church, Shaun and Kristen Bostick discovered the message Yeshua was more than just what the New Testament writings say.

After deciding to leave their church to pursue the Torah Life, they didn't have an easy time explaining their message to their fiends and pastor of the old church. .

Very quickly their Pastor told them they were wrong. They finally got asked to leave and the pastor has rebuked them and the Hebrew Roots movement, calling anyone involved with the principles of Torah, Evil and works of the devil.

Shaun and Kristen have started a Torah teaching assembly. Their website is

  1. I was told by our pastor that I and following a doctrine of demons, that reading Adonai’s word and asking only Him for understanding would lead me down a path he could not follow, and would result in the occult! After all I was just following his direction when he told the associate pastor to tell me to search the scriptures to correct my wife after watching a Passion for Truth video. So I followed and now have read more in the last two years then I ever did in the 20 years before. By the way my wife and I were considered leadership in the church. How many in leadership in the “church” today is as I was clueless in the word other than the sunday/wednesday service attendance? As for myself I am sadden by my “Christianity” and not being in Adonai’s word.

    • You are not alone. My testimony does not mirror yours but I read Malachi in it’s entire context just because it was short and a pastor told me it was talking about Jesus. The questions that I asked concerning this little book had me banished from a Baptist church. Since that day I have read the bible numerous times on top of weekly portions from both the new and old testaments. I test every teaching or so called biblical movie as if my life was on the line. I pray without ending when just a few years ago I never even considered giving thanks for my food. Then I remembered that all I have to do is have faith in Yeshua. The rest has fell like dominoes. Pork makes my stomach turn inside out now. I try to do my best to observe the Sabbath etc… While I wrestle with keeping the LAW I am at peace because I know that I have an advocate with the FATHER. I just know now that Yeshua’s sacrifice is not an excuse to not try. His sacrifice was to allow grace into this world of sin!!!

  2. They jumped from the frying pan into the fire! Notice they say they were “brought up Christian” and NOT born again. That’s the key. They are not born again. The A/G has many false converts.

    • +YAHWEH IS MY LORD AND MESSIAH YESHUA IS MY SAVIOUR True story…that is because you interpret the OT in light of the NT. The believer in Christ has the Law of God written in his heart. The feast, festival Sabbath are mere shadows of our great blessing Jesus Christ. This sect are the Judaizers Paul spoke of.

    • Yes, He redeemed us from the penalty of sin; which is death, which is the curse of the law. The payment for sin is death. Yahushua paid that debt for us.

  3. “31 Do we then make void the law through faith ? God forbid : yea , we establish the law .”
    ~Romans 3:31

“3 And hereby we do know that we know him , if we keep his commandments . 4 He that saith , I know him , and keepeth not his commandments , is a liar , and the truth is not in him . 5 But whoso keepeth his word , in him verily is the love of God perfected : hereby know we that we are in him . 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk , even as he walked .”
    ~1 John 2:3

    • docfate if the Apostle Paul is truly saying in this verse that we need to follow Old Testament law then why in the book of Galatians does he say otherwise? You might want to take a closer look at this verse and listen to commentaries on it before deciding that this is talking about following Old Testament law to the letter.

  4. Fact: Paul kept the Torah and feast days. Jesus kept the Torah and the feast days. The disciples kept the Torah and the feast days. All through the BOOK OF ACTS you can read of them keeping the torah and by extension the feast days and sabbath on Saturday.  A ROMAN pagan emperor tried to chang it to day of Sun Worship. Matthew 5:19

    • Fact the Apostles were clear in Acts 15, 21, Romans 14, Colossians 2, Galatians, 1 Timothy 1:3-11, Need I say more?! As a Messianic Jew, from a very orthodox past, I rightly call you out! Your doctrines don’t meld with Scripture. I live as the Jewish church of Acts 21 lived, and this includes not making Torat Moshe binding on the believer. I live as a Jew because I am a Jew, not because I have too follow Torah for the sake of salvation! Many saints are being persecuted (some to the point of death) all over the world, and guess what? THEY DON’T KEEP TORAH, but they’re guiltless in the eyes of G-d, and they’re receiving His full blessing! According to Phil. 3:2 , Galatians 3:1, and 2 Peter 3:16-17 you’re a foolish, Bible twisting, self destructing, dog! While these words of mine may sound harsh, they’re said in love and are backed by Scripture! My fellow Messianic Jew, who wrote numerous publications on the issue of Jewish Roots, has written another great piece.
The Dangers of Jewish Roots Movements
      By Daniel Juster

Yes, you read that right. The title of this article is surprising. Isn’t the Messianic Jewish Movement a Jewish roots movement? Did I not write a book entitled Jewish Roots? Yes. Then why the title? It is because some Jewish roots movements are spreading mistaken theology. These teachings are creating unnecessary dissension among believers in Yeshua. Many church leaders have distanced themselves from Messianic Judaism because they think we too ascribe to these misguided teachings. Just recently we heard of a pastor of a large church in Midwest USA who wants no connection with Messianic Jews due to offense from wrong Jewish roots teachings which influenced members of his church. However, there are also right Jewish roots teachers and teachings. So let’s begin with a summary of the right teaching.

      Correct Jewish Roots Teaching

Over a hundred years ago, a new stream of theology sought to understand the New Testament from its original Jewish context. This stream was contrary to the majority of liberal university New Testament scholarship which saw the New Testament as a Greek cultural development that countered the Hebrew Bible. After the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, understanding the New Testament through a first century Jewish context increased greatly. Saunders’ groundbreaking book Paul and Palestinian Judaism started the movement called the New Perspective on Paul. The quest for an accurate understanding through the Jewish context is common today. A small sample of this fine scholarship includes Davies’ “Paul and Rabbinic Judaism” and Skarsaune’s “In the Shadow of the Temple”, along with commentaries by Craig Keener and Darrel Bock.

Many in this scholarly Jewish roots movement have embraced the destiny of Israel as part of their theology. They connect to the Jewish people and the meaning of the Biblical feasts without suggesting any legalistic requirements. They recognize that Messianic Jews are still called to live and identify with their people, and also that Gentiles who believe in the Messiah are not responsible to take up patterns of Jewish life. They clearly understand the apostolic directives of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15, as well as Paul’s warnings in Galatians. These Jewish roots teachers, books, and conferences are enormously helpful to us.

      Mistaken Jewish Roots Teachings

Almost 50 years ago, the greatest Protestant theologian of the 20th century, Karl Barth, decried the fact that American theology had declined into paperback theology. What would he say today in regard to internet theology! Every modern aberrant theology gains a significant following through the internet. This is also the case with wrong Jewish roots movements. Here are a few of the false teachings that, we should note, are rejected by the mainstream of the Messianic Jewish movement. Some movements combine several of these errors.

Error #1: that Gentile Christians are to keep the whole Law just like Jews

I have called this error “One Law” – from the verse in Numbers 15:16 often used to justify it. I wrote a paper specifically to address this. Incredibly, these folks try to explain away Acts 15 and Galatians. They claim that all are called to keep the Law in the same way. Of course this is not only contrary to many clear New Covenant texts but also ends in partial replacement theology since there is no longer any distinctive calling for Jews. Some make an exception for circumcision for Gentiles, while others amazingly find a way to even call for this. Galatians 5 is very clear that Gentiles are not called to covenant circumcision or they would be responsible for keeping the whole Torah. Paul is virtually shouting to them, “Don’t do it!” These same folks teach that Christians must strictly observe all the Biblical feast days and the weekly Sabbath. They have not been able to agree on a calendar system to assure that exactly the right day on the annual calendar can be known for each feast. In both Judaism and Christianity there has been much dispute on this.

Error #2: that true Christians are the lost tribes of Israel

In an amazing twist of the Bible it is claimed that true Christians are physical descendants of the lost tribes who were scattered, this being the purported reason they became Christians. It is their answer to the puzzle of what happened to the lost tribes of Israel. As such they become “One Law” as well. All of the texts stating salvation has now come to the nations, and that the One New Man is made up of Jew and Gentile (Ephesians 2), are explained away. They expect to live in an expanded Israel – if not now, at least after the second coming. Again, this is partial replacement theology. The movement is divided on the issue of circumcision.

Error #3: that Christian holy day celebrations are pagan abominations

We should note that three of the main Christian Feasts are really a Christianization of Jewish Feasts: Passover/Pesach is celebrated as the death of Yeshua on Good Friday, Early First Fruits/Bikurim as the Resurrection, and Shavuot/Weeks as Pentecost. Yes, the Church should connect these Feasts much more clearly to their Jewish context. But the assertion that the Christian versions are pagan is painfully wrong. They celebrate the events of prophetic fulfillment in Yeshua’s life and ministry, and the day when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the gathered disciples. The days chosen for the actual celebrations, although different, can be argued to be as accurate in their way as the rabbinic dating for the feasts. These feasts celebrate Biblical events, and we should note that the meaning is according to what Christians have celebrated. The origin of Christmas as the date of Yeshua’s birth is questionable at best, though argued as correct by Messianic Jewish scholar Dr. John Fischer. However, for pious Christians, it is the celebration of the incarnation, not the worship of the Sun. So also worship on Sunday is about the resurrection of Yeshua on the first day of the week, not Sun worship. The origin of the choice of Sunday worship can be argued, but it has been claimed as the day of resurrection for at least 1800 years.

Many do not know the rich experiences with God that Christians experience in their heritage, both with regard to the resurrection and the glory of the celebration of the incarnation of Yeshua during advent season. The hymns, caroling and more are a wonderful conveying of Biblical truth. Criticism brings unnecessary pain and disrespect.

      Conclusion

These erroneous emphases have unnecessarily brought division, confusion and pain: to their adherents, to Christians, to Messianic Jews and to Jews. I trust that you, dear readers, will have the discernment to avoid mistaken Jewish roots teachings, and to be enriched by those that are right on.

    • Michael Caza-Schonberger your heart is beautiful, but I strongly disagree with your thoughts on Christmas….it is a high pagan day, that should not be practiced by any one who loves YHWH. Which tells me you may be in error in other areas. I sincerely read your responses and there may be some truth, but not the whole truth

  5. If, according to this pastor, Paul means in Colossians that we are not supposed to judge others for Sabbaths or dietary precepts, etc…then why he is judging Hebrew Roots people and demanding his congregation to cut off anyone in the Hebrew Roots movement? That’s judgment…and hypocrisy.

  6. We left the baptist church system. We lost our families and our church friends.
Everyone that was on my Facebook from the church unfriended me and refused to talk to us anymore. It’s been a little over a year and we still haven’t found fellowship.
    It’s tough doing this alone.

    • This is the sad fact about finding His Truth, those that cannot see it, reject it, and you in the process. Prayer is the answer, and through prayer perseverance. My husband and i have found the same thing after moving from one part of the country to another. There are plenty of 7th Day Adv. but they are not Truth seekers, they follow church doctrine, and are blind.
Peace and blessing in Yeshua HaMashiach.

  7. I’m 38 and raised in the A/G. My father is a pastor of the A/G. A bad pastor can be in any and all denominations. Problem is your focusing on the wrong stuff. Why are you wanting to tear brothers and sisters in Christ apart? Focus on the main issues. There will be no denominations in Heaven. Be careful!

    • I attended Hillsong College, which is assemblies of God. Let them tell their story. People aren’t always trying to discredit or tear am institution apart. Honestly, I don’t know their intent, so I’m not going to assume they’re trying to bring discord by telling their testimony thus far. I pray their lives bring the Father glory. It’s great walking in his ways.
      Shalom

    • AMEN people are so focus on other stuff instead of preaching about HELL and saving souls from eternal fire by ministering to others who are lost to repent and accept christ as there savior not what people eat or how they cut there hair!
Theres a spirtual battle and us as brothers in CHRIST should come together to save souls not argue!

    • Luke 12:51-53 says Jesus did not come to grant peace on earth, but rather sow division, that is, to separate the wheat from the tares. He wants a relationship only with those who want a relationship, never forcing people to follow Him and His Instructions. Denominationalism is evidence of the adversary. Hebrew roots is NOT a denomination but a method of studying and understanding Scripture. There is no one leader except Messiah Himself and His Spirit. A denomination has a leader and defines itself, while the faithful are led only by Jesus/Spirit and defined only by Scripture (all of it equally, instead of one “testament” over another. Grace Faith Obedience – it has always been the same formula, from the beginning. If you want a label Scripture only says Hebrews, or one from the other side (the world), or who has crossed over (to God’s Way alone). The way (traditions and teachings) of men is not the Way of YHVH.

    • +TheLobrik The Torah Movement??? You mean those that Shima (Hear) and Asah (Do) The Word of Elohim Yehovah, as He commands US?! Yeshua states clearly the same thing, Keep His Commandments, and He also states clearly, He who says he knows the Father but doesn’t keep the Commandments, is a liar and the Truth / Torah is not in them.
Its not a Torah movement, its and Obedience to Aveenu Malkaynu, Our Father Our King and not church doctrine that picks and chooses what Scripture suites them based on eisegesis and false understandings of His Word.

  8. Same thing happened to me from my AoG pastor. I asked him if what I found in the scriptures was true, he totally flipped his lid. No one speaks to me till today

  9. So let me get this straight…on the one hand Christians say once saved always saved you can never lose your salvation and on the other hand if you start keeping Torah you lose your salvation? I’m clearly missing something here 🤔🤔

    • Vegas Traci *Not every christian believes in eternal security.* It comes down to lifestyle. If you’ve accepted Jesus as your *Lord and saviour* then live it! not just say it. You’ll probablysin along the way, here and there but that’s not what makes you loose your salvation; it’s making sin a lifestyle once again that does. Making.a habit out of sinning after you’ve been saved and thzt supported by scripture: Acts 10:26 says *For if We sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins*

    • Vegas Traci. You CAN lose salvation by not remaining in Jesus, straying from the faith. Read Hebrews.
The law of Moses, after the new testament begins, is for the unrighteous only. Read Moses’ law has one purpose: point the person to the need of a Saviour because they can’t keep it. Those that are righteous are not so of their own but they have Jesus’ righteousness on and they are to not follow Moses’ (613) but Jesus’ commandments which are two.

I Am Present in the Eucharist despite the misinterpretation of My Promise
      Thursday, April 14th, 2011 @ 00:05
My dearly beloved daughter, do not worry. You are improving in the way you are setting time aside in prayer to Me. Now it is important that man understands that in order to come closer to My Heart, he must understand the need to receive the Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist.
Many people, including other Christian groups, deny My Real Presence in the Eucharist. Why they have decided to deny the promises I made at My Last Supper, where I promised I would give My Flesh and Blood as Food and Nourishment for your souls, is unclear. What is clear is that the Miracle of the Holy Eucharist, Present in all Tabernacles all over the world, Exists today, and is there to fill your poor, undernourished and empty souls with My Presence. This Presence will strengthen you in ways, that, were you to miss receiving Me once you get used to this, you will feel lost.
Many Christians ignore one of the most fundamental promises I made during My Crucifixion, where I would be Present in Bread and Wine and leave a permanent mark to help nourish souls. Too much human reasoning has meant that I have been rejected by even well meaning Christians. These same Christians cannot receive the Holy Eucharist in its True Form. The Most Holy Eucharist was given to you all as a great Gift for your redemption and salvation. By rejecting the fact that I Am Present, means that you are forfeiting special graces, which are part of a pact to bring Me even closer into your hearts. Remember, when I died for you, it was to lead you to towards eternal life and salvation. Receive Me as the Living Presence and your souls will alight in ways you would not have believed possible. Turn back to receiving My Body and Blood. Let Me remove your doubts. This is one of the biggest mistakes Christians have made, by denying Me entry to their souls in this way. It greatly offends My Eternal Father because of the Sacrifice involved to save your souls. Let Me bring Light and nourishment into your lives. You will be more inclined to accept the Truth of My Teaching after The Warning takes place.
Remember what I promised during My Last Supper that when you take the bread and wine it will become for you My Body and My Blood.* Any other interpretation has been distorted by human logic and reasoning. Now understand and accept the Truth.
      Your loving Saviour, Jesus Christ
*For clarification on the Doctrine of Transubstantiation please refer to the Message given on Friday, June 1, 2012 08:15 PM
“When the antichrist devours all religions the only weapons which he will be powerless against is the Holy Mass and the Transubstantiation of the bread and wine into My Body and Blood, in the Holy Eucharist.”

  10. When we let go of holidays it was me who came across all the information. First I took it to my husband and said, I don’t want to do this anymore. At that time he wasn’t even a believer, but he went along with me on it. We called in our kids who were 4,9,& 14 at the time, we prayed and I presented them with the facts and asked them how they felt about it and they didn’t want to displease God, so that was the end of it. Major blessings has come from our obedience and you want to talk about a release from bondage? It doesn’t get any better then that!!

  11. We experienced the same thing through the Assemblies of God too. We attended a conference at First Assemblies of God where Marilyn Hickey spoke. They took 100 of us who did speak in tongues behind the stage to a private room and forced us for over an hour trying to get us to speak in tongues. NOT ONE OF US left that room speaking in tongues. By the time they let us go; the auditorium was dark and empty. It was over. We missed the entire show.

We did almost exactly what this couple did and we too were asked to leave. We were told we were only about 1% of the entire population who was looking for answers and we weren’t going to find them there. We lost all of our friends and family though. We are alone except for other Torah Believers.

May Yahweh richly bless you both and your ministry.
    Shalom

  12. most of you so-called Christians on this thread don’t obey G-d’s commandments. Most of yall love to preach and hear preached that the Law was done away with so you can have an excuse to live how you want and do how you want. If you truly loved G-d, you would obey His commandments and Yeshua’s commandments are from the Law. Go back and read your Bible before you open your mouths

    • So, do you keep all the commandments? Better not mess up on One of them or else you burn in the lake of fire. Sounds like you are trusting in yourself and not what Jesus Did and how HE did to Pay for ALL Sins ONE Time On The Cross! I guess Jesus paying for ALL sins in full is not enough for you and that you steal the Glory of what Jesus did! Heck, why do you even need Jesus if you are living by the Laws! lol! Love 4Truth!

    • i never said I kept them perfectly, but yes I do the best I can to keep my Father’s commandments. and no I will not burn in the lake of fire cuz all I have to do is repent and im forgiven, ya know? kinda like I was redeemed from the curse of the Law by Yeshua being made a curse for me, ya know? Also, I trust in a Jewish Messiah named Yeshua that He is the Son of G-d and that He has come in the flesh, that he died on the cross and rose again> That what im trusting in. I don’t trust in the Law to make me righteous, I trust in Yeshua’s sacrifice. The Law is the commandments of G-d and Yeshua’s commandments are G-d’s commandments and G-d’s commandments are Yeshua’s commandments. Yeshua said,”  if you love Me, keep commandments. I love G-d and I keep His commandments because I have the Holy Spirit to empower me to keep it because the Law is spiritual. Now im not going to debate this further with you because you don’t get it and you never will. There are none so blind as those who will not see. But since you claim you see, your guilt remains. G-d bless you brother and I pray that Yeshua opens your eyes. In Psalm 119, David says He will keep His commandments and walk at liberty. amein!

  13. huh…well when I left my church no one even noticed or said anything…like they really didn’t, or ever, cared…but that’s ok…I’m looking at joining a Messianic congregation so it’s all working out!

  14. In the Assemblies of God, if the pastor starts believing like that, the board will kick him out from being a pastor. That’s what happened at Family Life in Salem Oregon.
