11 thoughts on “Why some people don’t like Mangos

  1. Mangos taste like woody sap to me usually, I wish I could get more varietys. Ellen fosher Did a video where she tasted a bunch of varietys also.

    • Kayla, you are right, there are Mangos that taste like you say! Hopefully some day you will get the opportunity to check out a Mango farm in Florida and discover a whole new world of flavors!

  2. I have never eaten a ripe mango before. I can’t imagine how tasty that is! Even as a pro-animal foods guy, I enjoy fruits a lot. I live in the North but whenever I travel to the south(Turkey) during the summer, first thing I look for is a good watermelon. Literally my favorite fruit of all time.

I never liked peaches because I disliked the sour taste of them whenever I ate them here in the Netherlands. But last year I gave peach another try: this time it was in Turkey where they grow in abundance. And oh my God.. that was the most delicious, sweet peach I’ve ever eaten. Since then, I understand that there’s a HUGE difference between ripe and unripe fruits, not just in terms of taste but also in terms of vitamins and minerals.

  3. I love mangos but have to resort to eating them from a can because EVERY mango I buy from the store (several different varieties) smell like petrol – here in Arkansas some fruits are hard to come by “local” which makes no sense because Arkansas is the ONLY state that can grow ANYTHING because of its diverse climate and topography

    • I always wondered why a lot of mangoes smell like that. The yellow pakistani mangoes that are imported here to Sweden have that strange smell to them and they also taste kind of strange, but also taste pretty good at the same time when ripe. They really use some strong chemical on some of these fruits?

  4. I heard this comment on so many fruits. This old lady told me she doesn’t like pears. WELL NO WONDER when 99% of pears in the store are rock hard and sour, and they are completely green when it’s a variety that is supposed to be yellow when ripe. I like my fruits ripe from the store or even better ripe of the tree thank you very much. I also noticed that there are in fact varieties of fruit that actually taste really bad even when the tree drop them by themselves, while most pear trees are amazing I actually found a horrible tasting one.

  5. Whichever type of mangoes grow in Tanzania and are abundant are the absolute BEST! I’ve never had a mango like the Tanzanian mango.
